There are many outdoor activities where open carry is legal and a very good idea. Remote areas can harbor predators of many species and a handy side arm can help you avoid unpleasant contact with them. The Kenai Chest Holster was designed as a practical way to carry a handgun when biking, hiking, hunting, kayaking, fishing or any other activity where having a firearm on your hip is inconvenient or impossible.

After spending years struggling with poor options for carry recreating in the Cascade Mountains of Washington, the crew at GunfightersINC knew that there had to be a better solution to carrying in the woods. Building dozens of prototypes, they finally came up with a design which placed the pistol in a secure and comfortable position, ready to draw when needed.

I have worn the Kenai hiking, running and biking. It is really all day comfortable and the combination of adjustable straps and elastic yolk holds the gun right where you want it as tight as you want it. Retention is solid, no need to worry about movement dislodging your gun. When you take it off, the straps separate from the holster for easy storage.

The centered position on the chest allows for a quick draw from any position, even when wearing bulky winter clothing or seated in a vehicle. Drawing is intuitive and easy. Unlike a shoulder, you don’t have to flag your self or others when you draw. Drawing while sitting down or in a vehicle requires a little more care.

Drawing your firearm from the Kenai

We get a lot of questions pertaining to the draw stroke on the Kenai Chest Holster. Most commonly:Can you draw with one hand? How fast can you draw the firearm?Answer is:Yes. Adjust your straps so they are snug. Give the firearm a sharp jerk when drawing, not a slow pull. It will work, promise.Fast, with practice.
