San Francisco General Hospital: heavy police presence amid reports of shots fired

An alert to hospital employees told them to shelter in place, not call dispatch and that evidence of illegal fireworks has been found.

According to a hospital nurse, the family health. and urgent care outpatient sections of the hospital (bldgs 80 & 90) were evacuated.

Authorities found evidence of illegal fireworks at SFGH. Here is the alert sent out.

Downtown LA: suspicious package in subway 7th and Hope. Bomb squad on site.

Shots have been possibly fired at San Francisco General Hospital on Thursday afternoon, police said.

This is happening in the area of 23rd Street and Potrero Avenue. It happened at around 1:54 p.m. Teams in the hospital are going floor to floor.

A witness said several officers were going into the building with weapons drawn. Commuters are advised to take alternate routes.

Roads are closed off. According to KRON’s Maureen Kelly, shots were fired in Building 80.

A K-9 Unit is on the scene searching for a possible active shooter.

No injuries have been reported at this time, according to firefighters.
