U.S. Marine Sgt. Tracey Rodriguez, left, a combat engineer with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, looks on as Lance Cpl. Nadra Khaled, center, an aviation operations specialist and Cpl. Erin Thomas, a law enforcement Marine, both with the 22nd MEU, execute a counter-to-the-rear choke technique during Female Engagement Team training in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3).

FET Marines conducted the training to sharpen their skills in preparation for advising troops from foreign nations on Marine Corps Martial Arts and detainee-handling techniques. Marines and sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
